Dire Fleet Warmonger turns every combat into a mana sink, threatening to grow your whole board at instant speed whenever a creature dies — on either side of the table. The ask is four mana up front and one mana per activation, which is a real cost, but in creature-dense Commander pods that cost pays off fast.

Commander is where Dire Fleet Warmonger earns its keep — multiplayer tables are full of dying creatures, and every death trigger you convert into a +1/+1 counter is free value on top of your normal game plan. Aggro and go-wide strategies in particular love having a mana sink that scales with the table's board state rather than just your own. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's legal but realistically unplayable; four mana for a 3/3 with a conditional pump ability doesn't meet the power threshold those formats demand. Vintage is the same story.

Price Context
Current price
$0.13 bulk tier
At $0.13, Dire Fleet Warmonger is deep bulk — you're picking this out of a dollar bin or a trade binder, not paying a premium. Bulk rares rarely appreciate unless a new commander or mechanic pushes them into demand, so treat this as a cheap include, not a hold.
