Dinosaur Hunter is a two-mana 2/2 that destroys any Dinosaur it deals combat damage to — a highly conditional removal staple that only earns its slot when Dinosaurs are a known threat at your table. Outside of dedicated Dinosaur-heavy metas, it's too narrow to justify a mainboard slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Dinosaur Hunter is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but its viability bottoms out at the same question everywhere: how many Dinosaurs are you actually facing? In Commander, it has the most plausible home as a meta-call inclusion in a creature-heavy pod where Gishath, Sun's Avatar decks are common — otherwise it sits dead in hand. In Pauper, the Dinosaur type barely registers as a threat, so Dinosaur Hunter never gets off the bench. Across competitive 60-card formats it's strictly unplayable; no meaningful Dinosaur presence exists in those metagames.

$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Dinosaur Hunter is deep bulk — the cost of entry is negligible. Price stability is high simply because there's nowhere lower to go, not because demand exists.
