Din of the Fireherd clears an opponent's entire creature board, hands those creatures to you as a 5/5 Elemental army, and deals three damage to each creature and player in the target opponent's colors — all for eight mana. That cost is steep, but Magar of the Magic Strings can carve it out of the graveyard for two mana, which is when the card becomes genuinely broken.

Magar of the Magic Strings
Magar of the Magic Strings can imprint Din of the Fireherd from the graveyard and recur it for two red mana, turning an eight-mana board swing into a repeatable engine that steals creatures and pings entire tables every few turns.

Zevlor, Elturel Exile
Zevlor, Elturel Exile copies the spell's target to each other opponent, so a single cast of Din of the Fireherd can strip multiple boards simultaneously and multiply the Elemental tokens you receive in return.

Din of the Fireherd is a Commander card through and through — the political dimension of targeting one opponent, the board-state swings it enables, and the token generation all play best in a multiplayer context. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but eight mana is never getting paid in a format measured in Force of Wills, so treat those as dead entries. Oathbreaker gives it a narrower stage, but the same reanimation and copy tricks that make it tick in Commander apply there too.

Price Context
Current price
$0.65 bulk tier
At $0.65, Din of the Fireherd sits firmly in bulk territory despite the outsized impact it can have on a game. The price is stable — it's not chased outside its Commander niche, so you're unlikely to pay more or less than this any time soon.
