Dig Site Inventory is a payoff card for artifact-heavy decks — it draws cards proportional to how many artifacts you control, which in the right shell means refilling your hand for three mana at sorcery speed. The ceiling is real, but so is the floor: with fewer than four artifacts on board, you're paying too much for too little.

In Commander, Dig Site Inventory earns its slot in dedicated artifact decks — the ones where ten-plus artifacts in play is a normal mid-game state, not a dream scenario. Outside that context, it's too conditional: three mana for two or three cards is fine, but there are cleaner draw spells that don't ask you to build around them. In competitive formats like Modern and Pioneer, sorcery speed and the artifact prerequisite make it unplayable — those formats move too fast for a card that needs board setup to function. Pauper is its most plausible non-Commander home, where cheap artifact synergies exist and card draw at common is scarce enough that the condition is worth meeting.

$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Dig Site Inventory is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a dollar bin or tossing it in a trade package as filler. It won't hold or gain value, but that's irrelevant: you run it because it draws cards in your artifact deck, not because of what it might be worth later.
