In Commander, Die Young is fringe — most tables run unconditional removal like Doom Blade or Path to Exile, and a single -1/-1 counter rarely kills what needs killing without an energy infrastructure propping it up. Pauper is where Die Young sees its most legitimate play, plugging into energy synergies at common rarity where the card pool rewards that kind of incremental advantage. In Modern and Pioneer it's outclassed by cheaper, cleaner answers; Legacy and Vintage have no interest. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander — playable only if your commander generates or cares about energy.
