Commander is where Devastating Summons earns its reputation, slotting into land-sacrifice engines and token doublers that make the math absurd — sacrifice ten lands into a Parallel Lives effect and you're putting twenty power into play on one red mana. In Legacy and Vintage it's a fringe storm-adjacency piece, occasionally seen in all-in combo lists that can rebuild their mana base, but it's never been a format staple in either. Modern has the tools to abuse it — specifically fetch-heavy shells and Titania, Protector of Argoth effects — though it remains a niche pick there rather than a format fixture.
