Devastating Dreams resets the board and wipes all lands for the cost of discarding cards equal to the lands you want to destroy — a symmetrical nuke that punishes mana-heavy boards while rewarding players who can rebuild faster. Run it in decks that either don't need lands to win or can recover from zero mana faster than anyone else at the table.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Devastating Dreams does its best work — the four-player pod means the land wipe punishes three opponents simultaneously, and commanders that cheat mana costs or win from empty boards turn this into a one-sided reset. In Legacy, it's a legal curiosity but too slow and too symmetrical to compete with faster disruption. Vintage allows it, but the format's density of broken mana makes the land destruction clause largely irrelevant when opponents can rebuild in a single draw step. Oathbreaker is the other format worth flagging: with only 60-card decks and a commander that can recur value, Devastating Dreams can end games outright if your oathbreaker untaps before anyone else does.

Price Context
Current price
$1.22 cheap tier
At $1.22, Devastating Dreams sits firmly in the bulk-rare tier — cheap enough to throw into any brew without second-guessing. Given its narrow but powerful role, the price is unlikely to spike unless a marquee Commander reprint or viral deck pushes demand, so pick it up whenever you need it.
