Descendant of Soramaro

Descendant of Soramaro is a niche role-player, and Commander is the only format where it earns consistent consideration — specifically in high-hand-size decks built around commanders like Kruphix, God of Horizons or Kami of the Crescent Moon, where the activation regularly digs four or more cards deep. In Pauper it's legal but competes against more efficient common-slot card selection and sees essentially no play. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; the effect is too slow and too conditional against those formats' threat density. Oathbreaker shares Commander's singleton structure and could support it in the same hand-size shells, but the format's smaller deck size reduces the payoff from repeated top-of-library manipulation.
