Deeproot Wayfinder puts a land directly onto the battlefield every time it connects in combat, which means it's pulling double duty as both an evasive threat and an accelerant. The cost is that you need to be attacking profitably — stall out and the engine stops.

Commander is where Deeproot Wayfinder earns its slot: evasive land acceleration scales well into a format full of high-CMC threats, and Merfolk or Simic-based commanders that care about combat can extract consistent value from the trigger. In competitive non-rotating formats like Modern and Pioneer, it's too slow and dependent on connecting to see meaningful play — three mana for a 2/3 that needs to deal combat damage is asking a lot against interaction-heavy fields. Legacy and Vintage are simply too fast for the game plan to matter.

Pricing data isn't available for Deeproot Wayfinder right now, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for a current number before buying. Given its niche role as a combat-dependent ramp piece, it's unlikely to command a significant premium outside of targeted Merfolk demand.
