Deepchannel Duelist enters as a 2/3 with ward 2 and, once you've cast your second spell each turn, becomes unblockable for the rest of the turn — a repeatable evasion engine on a body that punishes spell-dense builds. The three-mana cost is fair, but this card lives or dies on your deck's ability to consistently hit two spells per turn.
Format Analysis

In Commander, Deepchannel Duelist slots cleanly into spellslinger and Voltron strategies that can reliably cast two spells per turn — Prowess-style decks and commanders that reward combat damage triggers get the most mileage out of the unblockable clause. In competitive 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, a 2/3 for three that requires a two-spell setup is too slow and too conditional when dedicated evasion creatures do the job more efficiently. Legacy and Vintage have no interest. Standard is the only non-Commander format where Deepchannel Duelist could see fringe play, specifically in tempo-oriented Dimir or Izzet shells that already chain spells in the midgame.

Price Context
Current price
$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Deepchannel Duelist is firmly bulk — easy to pick up as a playset without thinking about it. Bulk rares with narrow synergy requirements rarely climb, so treat this as a cheap pickup for the decks that want it, not a spec.
