Decompose exiles up to three target creatures from a single graveyard for one black mana — graveyard hate at a rate that makes most alternatives look overpriced. It's a strict upgrade over Faerie Macabre in any shell that can cast black spells and doesn't need a body.

Commander is where Decompose earns its slot: reanimator strategies are ubiquitous, and the ability to hit up to three creatures for B at instant speed answers Kaalia of the Vast setups, Meren of Clan Nel Toth recursion engines, and flashback piles without spending a card on each target. In Legacy and Vintage, surgical graveyard interaction tends to favor Surgical Extraction or Leyline of the Void for their broader scope, but Decompose is a clean one-mana answer when you only need to clear creatures. It's not legal in Modern, Pioneer, Pauper, or Standard, so the Commander and Oathbreaker tables are its primary home.

Price Context
Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Decompose is deep bulk — you're essentially getting it for free when ordering a package of staples. Bulk graveyard hate rarely appreciates in price, but the floor is already the floor, so there's no reason not to have a copy in your binder for any black Commander deck that faces reanimator.
