Debris Beetle puts a -1/-1 counter on any creature when it enters — repeatable if you're bouncing and replaying it, but a one-shot 2/3 for three mana is a poor rate at any table. Run it only if your deck loops ETBs or explicitly cares about -1/-1 counters; otherwise it's outclassed by nearly every other three-drop threat.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| pioneer | legal |
| standard | legal |
| vintage | legal |

| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Debris Beetle earns a slot only in dedicated -1/-1 counter builds or heavy ETB-flicker shells — without that support, a 2/3 that pings one creature once is not a card you want in your 99. Competitive constructed formats ignore it entirely; Modern and Pioneer have far more efficient ways to distribute counters or threaten the board on turn three. Legacy and Vintage don't look at it. Standard is the one format where limited card pools occasionally make Debris Beetle viable as role-player removal, particularly in a counter-synergy shell, but even there it competes with better options whenever they're in format.

Price Context
Current price
$0.32 bulk tier
At $0.32, Debris Beetle sits firmly in bulk territory, and that price is unlikely to move without an unexpected reprint in a precon built around -1/-1 counters. Pick it up only if you have a specific deck that loops it — as a one-of curiosity it's not worth the slot regardless of cost.
