Deathmark Prelate locks opponents out of casting spells that share a mana value with any creature in their graveyard — a passive tax that snowballs the longer the game goes. The cost is that it does nothing until graveyards fill, making it dead in the early game against creature-light strategies.

In Commander, Deathmark Prelate rewards graveyard-heavy metas: by mid-game, most opponents have enough creature diversity in their bins that the lock covers a wide swath of mana values, disrupting combos and haymakers alike. It fits naturally in Orzhov or Grixis control shells that want passive disruption without spending mana each turn. In Legacy and Vintage, the graveyard fills fast enough that Deathmark Prelate can blank key spells on turn one or two, though those formats have enough graveyard hate and fast mana to race around it. Oathbreaker operates similarly to Commander at a smaller scale, where the reduced card pool makes the lock hit harder.

$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Deathmark Prelate is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in without thinking twice about cost. Bulk rares with narrow conditions rarely climb unless a specific meta or commander pushes them into demand, so don't expect this to move.
