Deathless Ancient card art
Deathless Ancient puts a 4/4 flying body on the board that returns itself from the graveyard whenever you tap three other Vampires — a built-in recursion engine stapled to a relevant creature type. The six-mana cost is steep, but in a dedicated Vampire shell it rarely stays dead.

Format Analysis

Commander is the only format where Deathless Ancient is actually worth sleeving up — Vampire tribal synergies are deep, games go long enough to justify six mana, and the graveyard recursion compounds over multiple turns. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's a six-mana 4/4 with no immediate impact, which is unplayable against the threats those formats put on the table on turns two and three. Vintage has the same problem at higher speed. Deathless Ancient is a pure Commander card: it needs a critical mass of Vampires, a slower clock, and a table that lets recursion matter.

Price Context

Current price

$0.18 bulk tier

At $0.18, Deathless Ancient is deep bulk — you'll find copies in any common box at your local store. Bulk rares with narrow tribal applications almost never appreciate, so there's no reason to stock up beyond the copies your Vampire decks actually need.
