Dead Revels returns two creatures from your graveyard to your hand for three mana — solid volume, but the baseline is unexciting. The Bargain clause is the reason to run it: sacrifice a token or a spent artifact and you jump to four creatures, which crosses from playable into genuinely good.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is Dead Revels' home — graveyard recursion that scales with sacrifice fodder fits naturally in reanimator and aristocrats shells that already generate tokens or expendable permanents to Bargain away. In Pauper it's a legal option for slower graveyard decks, though the format's common-level recursion package is crowded and the ceiling here is modest. Modern, Legacy, and Vintage have no interest in a three-mana sorcery that merely returns creatures to hand. Oathbreaker follows the Commander logic: if your planeswalker strategy feeds the graveyard and produces sacrifice fodder, Dead Revels earns a slot; otherwise it doesn't.

Price Context

$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Dead Revels is pure bulk — grab a copy without thinking about the price. Bulk commons with narrow applications don't move unless a deck archetype breaks out around them, so don't expect the number to change.
