Daybreak Chaplain is a 1/2 lifelink for two mana — the effect is real but the body is irrelevant at any table with creatures bigger than a house cat. There are better lifelink options at every point on the curve, and this one doesn't make the cut.

Daybreak Chaplain is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but being legal and being playable are different things. In Pauper it's the closest to viable — lifelink on a cheap common body has marginal utility in white weenie or lifegain synergy shells, though even there it's outclassed. In Commander, a 1/2 lifelink for two accomplishes nothing at a table where opponents are goldfish-ing combo wins or swinging with 10-power creatures by turn five. Across every other format, the card simply doesn't do enough to justify a slot.
