Dauntless Survivor enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter for each time you've cycled or discarded a card this turn, turning a single discard-heavy turn into a surprisingly large threat. The cost is that it's a do-nothing topdeck in the late game if you haven't already been cycling — it rewards setup, not arrival.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

In Commander, Dauntless Survivor slots cleanly into cycling and discard-matters builds — Nekusar, the Mindrazer wheels, Zur's Weirding grind, or any Amonkhet-flavored cycling shell — where a single turn can load four or five counters onto it before combat. Outside Commander, Pauper is its most realistic competitive home, where cycling synergies are dense enough at common to make a large trampler or evasive threat out of a two-drop genuinely threatening. Modern and Pioneer have the card pool to support it, but faster, less conditional threats crowd it out. Legacy and Vintage have no interest.

Price Context
Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Dauntless Survivor is deep bulk — buy a playset for the price of a pack of gum and don't think twice about it. Bulk commons rarely move on price unless they hit a breakout deck, and this one isn't a format staple, so expect it to stay exactly where it is.
