Dauntless Cathar gives you a 3/2 body with the option to exile it from your graveyard and generate a 1/1 Spirit token with flying — a two-for-one spread across two turns for three mana. The on-board stats are unexciting, but the built-in recursion loop makes it a reliable token producer in any white deck that cares about repeated sacrifice fodder or graveyard synergy.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Dauntless Cathar earns its slot in token-aristocrats shells where the Spirit it produces on death feeds sacrifice engines or gets boosted by anthem effects — it's a role-player, not a headliner. In Pauper, the format most likely to actually want it, the combination of a reasonable body and a free token-on-demand at common rarity has genuine utility in white weenie or Orzhov sacrifice lists. Modern and Pioneer have long since left three-mana 3/2s behind, and Legacy has no interest — Dauntless Cathar is simply outclassed in those formats. Play it where synergy compensates for raw power, and only there.

Price Context
Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Dauntless Cathar is pure bulk — you're paying for cardboard and ink, not the card itself. It won't spike, but it also won't cost you anything to throw into a token deck, which is exactly where its value lives.
