Dark Remedy gives a creature indestructible until end of turn for one black mana — that's a combat trick, a boardwipe shield, and a removal dodge stapled together at instant speed. It's narrow by nature, but the ceiling on a one-mana indestructible spell is real anywhere black creatures matter.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Dark Remedy earns its slot in decks that live and die by a single creature — voltron builds, sacrifice engines that need a piece to survive to untap, or any commander so central that losing it to a Cyclonic Rift bounce is the secondary concern and a Wrath is the real threat. In Pauper it sits in the shadow of similar protection spells but remains a cheap, legal option for black aggro trying to push through combat. Modern and Legacy have redundant and more versatile options, so Dark Remedy rarely makes those 60-card lists. Oathbreaker is arguably its best non-Commander home, where protecting your planeswalker from a targeted kill spell for one mana can single-handedly swing a game.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Dark Remedy is deep bulk — pick it out of a commons box rather than buying singles. That price is stable by definition; there's no demand spike coming for a narrow protection spell with plenty of competition.
