Dargo, the Shipwrecker card art
Dargo, the Shipwrecker is a 7/5 trampler that routinely hits the battlefield for one or two mana once you've sacrificed a few permanents — the cost reduction is the card. Pair it with a sacrifice-friendly partner like Silas Renn, Seeker Adept or slot it under Rakdos, the Muscle and you have a massive beater that resets every turn for almost nothing.

Rakdos, the Muscle

Rakdos, the Muscle

34.9% of decks · synergy 0.34

Rakdos, the Muscle demands sacrifice fodder every combat, which drives Dargo, the Shipwrecker's cost down to virtually nothing — the two cards form a self-sustaining engine where one feeds the other each turn.

02
Breeches, Brazen PlundererMalcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator

Breeches, Brazen Plunderer // Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator

19.2% of decks · synergy 0.19

The Breeches, Brazen Plunderer // Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator pirate package wants cheap, aggressive bodies that pressure opponents early, and Dargo, the Shipwrecker fills that role perfectly once the sacrifice loop from treasure tokens and stolen permanents reduces its cost to one or two mana.

Format Analysis

Commander is where Dargo, the Shipwrecker lives — the partner mechanic lets it slot into Rakdos sacrifice shells or Grixis artifact strategies alongside Silas Renn, and the recurring cost reduction scales well over a full game. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but far too slow and parasitic for those formats, where a seven-mana body with conditional reduction can't compete with the raw efficiency on offer. Oathbreaker is the only other format worth mentioning, and even there its utility depends entirely on whether your spellcaster supports a sacrifice theme.

Pricing data for Dargo, the Shipwrecker isn't currently available, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the latest number. Given its niche role as a sacrifice-payoff partner rather than a format staple, it has historically sat in the budget-to-mid range — worth picking up if you're building the deck, not worth speculating on.
