Dance of the Skywise card art
Dance of the Skywise turns any noncreature spell into a 4/4 flying Dragon until end of turn — a combat trick with real teeth whenever you're running an instant-heavy or spellslinger shell. The cost is narrow payoff: it does nothing on an empty board and trades raw card value for a single attack window.

Dance of the Skywise is legal across Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees virtually no competitive play outside of casual Commander. In Commander it slots cleanly into spellslinger decks that want a threat stapled to a spell, especially those running Izzet or tempo-oriented builds that can leverage the Dragon's flying and haste potential from other enablers. In Modern and Pioneer the card is simply outclassed — a one-turn 4/4 that doesn't stick the board can't compete with the threats those formats generate at the same mana cost. Legacy and Vintage have zero interest; the effect is orders of magnitude below the power floor. Commander is the only home where Dance of the Skywise earns its slot.
