Cut of the Profits

Cut of the Profits is almost exclusively a Commander card — the payoff scales with the number of creatures dying simultaneously, a condition that creature-heavy 100-card decks hit far more consistently than 60-card formats. In Modern and Pioneer it faces stiff competition from cheaper or more redundant draw spells, and the sorcery speed kills its viability in interactive matchups. Legacy and Vintage have the raw power density to make death-trigger shells work, but those formats rarely need a three-mana sorcery when faster options exist. In Commander, it slots cleanly into any aristocrats or token shell as a mid-to-late-game burst draw spell with minimal competition at its price point.
