Custodian of the Trove is a 3/3 artifact creature for three mana that generates a Treasure when it enters — a clean rate with no hoops to jump through. The body and the token together make it immediately useful the turn it lands, and that's about as far as the ceiling goes.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Custodian of the Trove is a bulk common in every format it's legal in, and that's the whole story. In Commander, Treasure synergy decks — anything running Revel in Riches, Smothering Tithe, or a sacrifice engine — can find use for it, but it's never the best option at the three-mana slot. Pauper is the one format where its raw stats and free Treasure could make it a fringe consideration in artifact-matters shells, but it still faces stiff competition. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer are non-starters; the effect is too low-impact for any environment where cards fight for competitive slots.

Price Context
Current price
$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Custodian of the Trove is deep bulk — a card you pick out of a common box, not one you buy singles of. That price is stable because demand is low and supply is everywhere; don't expect movement in either direction.
