Crush of Wurms card art
Crush of Wurms puts three 6/6 Wurm tokens on the board for nine mana — a massive swing in a single spell. Outside of Baru, Wurmspeaker, where those tokens immediately grow larger and start threatening lethal, the cost is steep enough that most green decks have better ways to spend nine mana.

Baru, Wurmspeaker turns every Wurm token from Crush of Wurms into an even larger threat by buffing them based on the greatest power among Wurms you control, and the three bodies also trigger Baru's ability to create additional Wurm tokens — making Crush of Wurms one of the highest-ceiling single spells the deck can cast.

Crush of Wurms is a Commander card through and through — the format's longer games and four-player life totals are what make a nine-mana sorcery worth a slot. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, nine mana is a game-ending amount of resources better spent on nearly anything else, and it sees no competitive play there. Oathbreaker shares Commander's multiplayer structure but the format's faster pace and lower starting life totals make Crush of Wurms a fringe inclusion at best. If you're casting it, you're playing Commander, and you're almost certainly playing Baru.

Price Context

Current price

$1.90 cheap tier

At $1.90, Crush of Wurms sits in budget territory for a card with a narrow but dedicated home. Demand is almost entirely driven by Baru, Wurmspeaker players, so the price is stable but unlikely to climb without a reprint or a new Wurm-tribal commander shaking things up.
