Copper Carapace card art
Copper Carapace gives a creature +2/+2 and shroud for one mana to equip, but the equipped creature can't attack — which makes the buff nearly useless in most contexts. It's a trap: the protection comes stapled to a drawback that strips the very reason you'd run a combat-oriented equipment.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

Copper Carapace is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but seeing play in almost none of them. In Commander, the can't-attack clause is a dealbreaker — you're spending mana to protect a creature that can no longer threaten anyone. Pauper is the one format where a one-mana equipment with shroud could theoretically matter, but the attack restriction makes it uncompetitive even there. Across every format, better equipment exists at the same or lower cost.
