Contaminated Landscape card art
Contaminated Landscape enters tapped and lets you pay 1 life to have it produce any color of mana — straightforward color fixing at the cost of tempo and a point of life. It's a role-player, not a powerhouse, and Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain decks are its most natural home because the enchantment subtype lets it pull double duty as an Aura that happens to fix mana.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain

Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain

29.8% of decks · synergy 0.16

Arna Kennerüd, Skycaptain cares about Auras entering the battlefield attached to creatures, so Contaminated Landscape — as an Aura land — lets you trigger that engine while simultaneously solving Boros color fixing, which is a real two-for-one in a color pair that historically struggles with both.

02
Eriette, the Beguiler

Eriette, the Beguiler

27.7% of decks · synergy 0.14

Eriette, the Beguiler builds around keeping Auras in play to grind out life totals, and Contaminated Landscape fills a land slot without diluting the Aura count that powers the engine.

03

Soundwave, Sonic Spy

26.1% of decks · synergy 0.12

Soundwave, Sonic Spy rewards loading up on permanents with specific subtypes, and Contaminated Landscape slots into that shell as a land that doubles as an Aura, keeping the type count high without sacrificing a spell slot.

FormatVerdict

In Commander, Contaminated Landscape occupies the budget tier of color-fixing lands — it's a strict downgrade from Raffine's Tower or even Mana Confluence, but it's legal, cheap, and counts as an Aura, which is the only reason to reach for it over a basic. In Pauper, the common slot is competitive and enters-tapped lands have real cost in a format built on speed, so it sees minimal play. Legacy and Vintage have zero interest — the fixing is irrelevant when fetchlands exist. Contaminated Landscape is fundamentally a Commander card, and even there, only in decks where the Aura subtype is load-bearing.

Price Context

Current price

$0.21 bulk tier

At $0.21, Contaminated Landscape is bulk — easy to acquire and easy to cut without financial regret. It won't climb in value; the demand ceiling is narrow Aura-commander lists, and better fixing lands are also cheap enough to compete for the same slot.
