Coming Attraction puts a Hunt counter on a creature for free — no mana required — which is the entire reason The Most Dangerous Gamer runs it in 93% of its decks. One card, zero mana, instant enablement for a commander whose entire engine pivots on Hunt counters.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | banned |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | banned |
| pauper | banned |
| oathbreaker | banned |
Coming Attraction carries four real restrictions: it's sorcery speed, it targets only a creature you control, it requires that creature to survive to matter, and it does nothing on its own without a payoff in play. In competitive 1v1 formats those constraints were apparently still too much — it's banned in Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker. Commander gives it a pass because the singleton format slows things down enough that a free Hunt counter is a value piece rather than a broken engine piece, and the four-player table dilutes the threat.

The Most Dangerous Gamer
The Most Dangerous Gamer turns Hunt counters into a full resource engine, and Coming Attraction is the most efficient way to land one — zero mana the turn you need it, no questions asked.
