Collective Unconscious draws you a card for each creature you control — cast it into a board of ten tokens and you're refilling your hand with ten cards for six mana. That rate is backbreaking in any token or go-wide shell, and Witherbloom, the Balancer turns the life you gain from all that card draw into additional fuel for its own engine.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Witherbloom, the Balancer
Witherbloom, the Balancer generates a wide board of creature tokens as a matter of course, and Collective Unconscious converts that width directly into a full grip — the life gained from Witherbloom's triggers pairs with the raw card advantage to keep the engine churning through multiple turns.

Emmara, Soul of the Accord
Emmara, Soul of the Accord produces a Soldier token every time she taps, so a developed board turns Collective Unconscious into a massive refill that most opponents simply can't match on card parity.

Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury
Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury builds up a field of Elf Warrior tokens over several turns, and Collective Unconscious scales directly with that accumulation — casting it with five or six elves out routinely draws more cards than any single draw spell in the deck.

Wort, the Raidmother
Wort, the Raidmother's conspire mechanic copies instants and sorceries by tapping two creatures, so Collective Unconscious with conspire draws you cards for every creature twice — that kind of doubling turns a strong draw spell into a game-defining one.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Collective Unconscious is a Commander card through and through — the format's creature-dense, multiplayer nature means you're routinely drawing five or more cards off a single cast, a rate no competitive format would tolerate on a sorcery. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but completely unplayed; six mana for conditional card draw doesn't compete in formats where the game is often decided by turn two or three. Oathbreaker gives it a slightly friendlier home in creature-heavy builds, but Commander is where Collective Unconscious actually earns its slot.

Price Context
Current price
$0.51 bulk tier
At $0.51, Collective Unconscious sits firmly in bulk territory, which makes it one of the highest-impact cards per dollar in any token or creature-wide Commander deck. The price reflects its narrow format home rather than its power level — in the right shell, it overperforms cards that cost ten times as much.
