Coerced Confession card art
Coerced Confession mills an opponent for four and draws you a card for each land milled — five mana for a cantrip is the floor, and hitting two or three lands turns it into real card advantage. It's slow and conditional, but in Commander it punches above its cost often enough to earn a slot in mill and theft strategies.

Coerced Confession is a Commander card through and through — 40-life games, 100-card decks, and multiplayer threat assessment all make five mana for targeted mill plus card draw viable in a way it simply isn't elsewhere. In Modern and Legacy, five mana sorceries that don't win the game immediately don't see play, and the card-draw condition is too inconsistent against tuned decks with low land counts. Pioneer has the same problem. Commander is where the math works: opponents run 36–38 lands, so you're likely drawing one or two cards, and the political angle of targeting the player with the scariest graveyard setup adds real utility.

Price Context

Current price

$0.09 bulk tier

At $0.09, Coerced Confession is deep bulk — you're essentially getting it for free when ordering other cards. Bulk rares and uncommons at this price point rarely move unless a deck archetype spikes in popularity, so don't expect this to appreciate, but there's zero financial risk to picking up a copy.
