Claim the Precious card art
Claim the Precious puts The One Ring directly into play from your library — no mana cost, no waiting — at the price of one life and a sacrificed creature. It's the fastest way to find The One Ring in black-green, and in any deck built around Frodo, Sauron's Bane, that speed is the entire point.

Frodo, Sauron's Bane lives and dies by The One Ring's protection and card draw, and Claim the Precious is the most direct way to put that engine on the table — 83% of Frodo decks run it for exactly that reason.

Claim the Precious is a Commander card through and through — The One Ring is most oppressive in multiplayer, where the protection from everything and burst card draw generate a disproportionate advantage across several turns. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but competes with faster, more flexible tutors and The One Ring itself sees little play in those formats' current metagames. Pauper legality is a technicality; The One Ring isn't Pauper-legal, so the card has no practical role there. Stick to Commander, where Claim the Precious earns its slot cleanly in any deck that wants The One Ring on the table by turn three.

Price Context

Current price

$1.12 cheap tier

At $1.12, Claim the Precious is an easy include — you're paying bulk rare prices for a card that functionally tutors one of the most powerful artifacts in Commander directly into play. Demand is narrowly tied to The One Ring decks, so the price is unlikely to spike beyond its current floor, but it's not going anywhere either.
