Circle of Elders taps for one green mana per creature you control with the greatest power — a number that climbs fast in go-wide or stompy builds — but the summoning sickness and five-mana entry cost mean it does nothing the turn it lands. Run it only if your deck reliably fields multiple large creatures; otherwise it's a slow rock that wins you nothing.
Format Analysis

Circle of Elders is a Commander card through and through — the format's slower pace, 40-life clock, and creature-heavy midsections give it time to recover from summoning sickness and find enough high-power creatures to tap for meaningful mana. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it is technically legal but functionally unplayable; five mana for a 2/3 that might tap for one is nowhere near the rate those formats demand. Vintage has too many degenerate alternatives to ever consider it. Commander is the one format where the effect scales well enough to justify the cost, and even there it earns a slot only in dedicated large-creature or go-wide builds where it regularly taps for three or more.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Circle of Elders is deep bulk — you will find copies in any dollar bin without looking hard. The price is unlikely to move; niche Commander utility and no competitive demand keep it firmly at the floor.
