Chronicler of Heroes draws you a card when it enters — no setup required, just put a counter on a creature you already wanted to play. The catch is a 3/2 body for three mana that does nothing else, which makes it a role-player rather than a staple: it belongs in counter-focused decks and nowhere else.

In Commander, Chronicler of Heroes earns its slot in +1/+1 counter decks — Ezuri, Claw of Progress; Atraxa, Praetors' Voice; Hamza, Guardian of Arashin — where triggering the draw is trivial and the body can be pumped into relevance. Outside of that niche, three mana for a 3/2 and a conditional draw is below rate. In Pauper it's legal and occasionally sees play in counter-based green-white shells where common-quality card draw is scarce. In Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy, the competition is too stiff — Chronicler of Heroes never shows up competitively.

Price Context
Current price
$0.13 bulk tier
At $0.13, Chronicler of Heroes is deep bulk — pick it up for pennies out of a common box. Bulk rares with narrow applications rarely climb in price, so treat this as a cheap role-player rather than a spec.
