Champion Lancer is a six-mana 4/4 with protection from creatures and indestructible — it wins every combat it enters, but six mana for a vanilla-statted body that doesn't advance your board state beyond blocking and attacking is a steep ask. In Commander, that rate doesn't justify the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Champion Lancer is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees essentially no competitive play in any of them. In Commander, six mana for a creature that can't be blocked or killed by creatures sounds appealing until you realize it doesn't generate value, doesn't win on the spot, and dies to any non-creature removal — which every deck runs. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient threats, and Champion Lancer's statline doesn't clear the bar for either format. Oathbreaker is the only context where a resilient, evasive attacker might find a niche, but even there you'd need a signature spell pairing that actively abuses the protection clause to justify the cost.

unknown tier
Pricing data for Champion Lancer isn't currently available, but as a bulk rare with negligible competitive demand, expect to find it in the $0.25–$0.50 range at most vendors. It's not a card to pick up speculatively — the ceiling on demand is low.
