Chameleon Spirit copies target creature's power, toughness, and creature types when it enters — a flexible body that slides into whatever your board needs at that moment. The cost is real: three mana for a temporary mirror effect that doesn't copy abilities makes it a role-player at best, not a staple.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Chameleon Spirit is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees virtually no competitive play in any of them. In Commander, the appeal is narrow — tribal decks that need a fifth copy of a creature type get the most mileage, since Chameleon Spirit can adopt whatever type your lord cares about. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient creatures, so Chameleon Spirit doesn't make the cut there. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander: playable only in dedicated tribal shells, and only if you're short on better options.

Price Context
Current price
$0.25 bulk tier
At $0.25, Chameleon Spirit is deep bulk — pick it up without thinking if your tribal deck has a specific gap it can fill. That price isn't going anywhere; casual demand keeps it from being worthless, but nothing here drives a spike.
