Cave People trades three mana and a tap to give a creature you control unblockable until end of turn — a fragile, expensive effect that most decks can replicate for less. Spend your slots elsewhere unless you're deep in a tribal Mountain Dwellers build that has no better options.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Cave People is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but legal and playable are different things. In Legacy and Vintage the competition for three-mana creatures is brutal and a tap-to-unblock effect doesn't make the cut. Commander is the only format where Cave People could theoretically find a home — specifically in a hyper-themed tribal shell where flavor constraints matter more than efficiency. Oathbreaker has the same problem Legacy does: the format is too streamlined for a slow, conditional evasion piece.

Current price
$0.15 bulk tier
At $0.15, Cave People sits firmly in bulk territory, and the price reflects the demand accurately. Don't expect movement — there's no competitive spike waiting to happen here, so pick it up as a novelty or for a themed deck without worrying about the cost.
