Cauldron's Gift reanimates any creature from any graveyard and puts a +1/+1 counter on it for five mana at instant speed — that flexibility makes it a real card in graveyard decks that want to operate at end of turn. Five mana is steep, but instant-speed reanimation is rare enough to justify the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Cauldron's Gift earns its keep — graveyards fill fast in multiplayer, and hitting any player's graveyard at instant speed means you're always finding the best target at the table. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer, five mana is too slow for the formats' pace and dedicated reanimation suites are cheaper and more reliable. Vintage has access to everything and plays Cauldron's Gift zero times. Oathbreaker functions close enough to Commander that the same logic applies: slower format, graveyard synergies matter, and the instant speed is a genuine edge.

$0.20 bulk tier
At $0.20, Cauldron's Gift is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. That price is stable; there's no demand pressure pushing it anywhere.
