Carrionette exiles a creature permanently — no graveyard recursion, no reanimation targets — for two mana with a discard rider that rarely matters. It's a niche removal piece that earns its slot only in black decks that actively want to strip the graveyard.
Format Analysis

In Commander, Carrionette occupies a narrow lane: graveyard-hate removal that also answers indestructible creatures, which is genuinely useful in a format where Uril, the Miststalker and Blightsteel Colossus roam. The discard cost is close to irrelevant in graveyard-matters decks that want cards in the bin anyway. Legacy and Vintage are legal but uninterested — Swords to Plowshares exists, and two mana with a discard clause is not competitive. Carrionette is a Commander card through and through, best treated as a sideboard answer to recursive threats rather than a maindeck staple.

Price Context
Current price
$1.54 cheap tier
At $1.54, Carrionette sits in the cheap tier where budget brewers can slot it without hesitation. It won't appreciate — supply is stable and demand is too narrow — but losing $1.54 to a better option later is not a meaningful cost.
