Carrion Call puts two 1/1 Insect tokens with infect onto the battlefield at instant speed for four mana — relevant body count at flash timing, threatening to close out a poisoned opponent on anyone's end step. The cost is real: four mana for two 1/1s is below rate unless infect or proliferate synergies are already in play.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Carrion Call is Commander's natural home — the format's slower pace gives you the mana to hold up four, and proliferate commanders like Atraxa, Praetors' Voice or Vishgraz, the Doomhive turn the two tokens from speed bumps into a closing threat. In Legacy and Vintage it's nearly unplayable; those formats move too fast for four-mana token production that doesn't affect the board beyond infect. Modern Infect decks don't want it either — they're a turn-three kill machine that has no use for a slow, expensive instant. Carrion Call belongs in Commander and nowhere else.

Price Context
Current price
$0.13 bulk tier
At $0.13, Carrion Call is deep bulk — free to pick up as a casual infect piece with no financial downside. Don't expect that to change; it's not a card competitive formats are ever going to rescue.
