Carrion Beetles card art
Carrion Beetles removes up to three cards from an opponent's graveyard for one black mana — the effect is real, the cost is negligible. The ceiling is low enough that it only earns a slot when graveyard hate is a recurring need, not a one-time answer.

In Commander, Carrion Beetles occupies the bottom tier of graveyard hate — functional but easily outclassed by Nihil Spellbomb or Soul-Guide Lantern, which hit more cards and cost the same or less. Graveyard-heavy metas may justify running Carrion Beetles as a redundant piece, but most 99s have better options for that slot. In Pauper, the common restriction tightens the card pool enough that it sees occasional fringe play in black control shells that need cheap, repeatable interaction. Legacy and Vintage have graveyard hate so efficient that Carrion Beetles never competes.

Price Context

Current price

$0.19 bulk tier

At $0.19, Carrion Beetles is deep bulk — a price floor card with no meaningful demand driver pushing it higher. It holds that value simply because it exists, not because anyone is buying in.
