Canopy Spider card art
Canopy Spider is a two-mana 1/3 reach blocker — it stops flyers and does nothing else. Outside of Tadeas, Juniper Ascendant decks where reach creatures fuel the mana engine, it's a filler card that belongs in the bulk box.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Tadeas, Juniper Ascendant

Tadeas, Juniper Ascendant

47.3% of decks · synergy 0.47

Tadeas, Juniper Ascendant generates mana whenever a creature with reach attacks, and Canopy Spider is exactly the kind of cheap, on-theme reach creature that keeps that engine firing from turn two onward.

02
Shelob, Child of Ungoliant

Shelob, Child of Ungoliant

13.3% of decks · synergy 0.13

Shelob, Child of Ungoliant has deathtouch and reach itself, and Canopy Spider fits the Spider tribal subtheme that naturally assembles around her — the inclusion rate reflects tribal synergy more than any specific engine.

In Commander, Canopy Spider is nearly exclusive to Tadeas, Juniper Ascendant decks — outside of that specific reach-matters shell, a 1/3 for two with no text beyond reach doesn't pull weight in a 100-card singleton format. In Pauper, reach blockers see occasional sideboard play to shut down aggressive flying strategies, and Canopy Spider is cheap enough to compete for that slot, though better options exist. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer, it's simply outclassed — formats that fast have no patience for a vanilla 1/3. Stick to Commander, and only if Tadeas is your commander.

Price Context

Current price

$0.23 bulk tier

At $0.23, Canopy Spider is deep bulk — you're paying for the cardboard, not the card. Demand is narrow enough that this price is stable, but there's no reason to expect movement in either direction.
