Canoptek Spyder card art
Canoptek Spyder puts artifact tokens into play and generates value on a board that wants bodies — and it does it on a four-mana body that keeps producing. In Imotekh the Stormlord or any artifact-token shell, Out of the Tombs and similar recursive engines make this a card you want in play early and never want answered.

Canoptek Spyder is a Commander card — full stop. Its design is built around multiplayer board states where a four-mana creature generating artifact tokens over several turns has time to generate meaningful value, and it shows up in thousands of Commander decks for exactly that reason. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, the card is too slow and too underpowered to compete; four mana for a token producer gets ignored at tables where the game ends on turn two or three. Oathbreaker is the only other format where Canoptek Spyder could show up, and there it follows the same logic as Commander — viable in the right artifact shell, irrelevant outside it.

Pricing data for Canoptek Spyder isn't currently available, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the current market rate before picking up copies. Given its 70%+ inclusion in Imotekh the Stormlord decks and strong showing across several other commanders, demand is real — don't assume it's bulk just because it looks like a set-specific creature.
