Callous Dismissal
Sorcery

Callous Dismissal bounces any nonland permanent for two mana and tacks on an Amass trigger — tempo and token production stapled together. It's a role-player, not a staple, but in decks that want Amass counters it pulls double duty where a plain Unsummon never could.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Callous Dismissal occupies a narrow lane: bounce spells are generally too low-impact at the 100-card table, but the Amass rider gives it a second life in dedicated token or +1/+1 counter builds. Pauper is where Callous Dismissal is most at home — the format's slower pace makes a two-mana bounce with upside genuinely playable, and Army tokens have real staying power there. In Pioneer, Modern, and Legacy it's outclassed by cheaper or more flexible options and sees virtually no competitive play. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander read: synergy-dependent, not a default include.

Price Context
Current price
$0.21 bulk tier
At $0.21, Callous Dismissal is deep bulk — you're not paying for power, you're paying for the Amass rider on a card that would otherwise be unplayable in most contexts. Bulk bounce spells don't appreciate; pick it up if the synergy calls for it and don't think twice about the price.
