Bushmeat Poacher turns any creature sacrifice into a life payment that draws a card — a repeatable, on-demand draw engine that only asks you to already be doing what sacrifice decks want to do. Four mana to cast and two life per activation is real cost, but in any shell generating disposable bodies the math adds up fast.

Bushmeat Poacher is fundamentally a Commander card — the format's longer games and token-generating commanders give it the recurring activation opportunities it needs to justify the slot. In Pauper it's technically legal and a common, but five-color goodstuff isn't a real archetype there, and dedicated sacrifice outlets exist that don't cost four mana. Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, and Vintage all move too fast for a 4/2 that draws cards at two life a pop; you'd never realistically activate it before the game ends. Commander is the one format where Bushmeat Poacher earns its place — specifically in black-green or Jund sacrifice shells that are already building a board of expendable creatures.
