In Commander, Burning Sun's Fury earns its slot in aggressive red and red-based multicolor decks that need a clean answer to token swarms and low-loyalty planeswalkers without wiping their own board. The 2-damage floor is narrow — it misses anything with 3 or more toughness — so it fits best alongside commanders who go wide with small creatures or who benefit from clearing the opposing side without losing their own threats. In Pauper it's legal but competing against more efficient red removal at common, and in eternal formats like Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer the card simply can't justify the mana cost when cheaper, more targeted options exist. Oathbreaker is the one other format where the planeswalker clause carries real relevance, but even there it's a niche include.
