Burning of Xinye destroys four lands on each side of the table and deals 4 damage to each creature — a Stone Rain stapled to a Pyroclasm at eight mana. The cost is steep and symmetrical, but if you're rebuilding faster than your opponents, you're winning.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |

| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Burning of Xinye sees essentially all of its play, and even there it occupies a narrow niche — land-destruction and stax shells that can either recover from the land hit faster than opponents or simply don't care about their own land count. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but never competitively played; eight mana is a non-starter in formats where the game ends on turn two or three. Oathbreaker has the same legality but the same problem. This card lives and dies in Commander, and even there you need a specific plan to justify running it.
