Brutalizer Exarch card art
Brutalizer Exarch enters and either buries a noncreature permanent on top of an opponent's library or tutors a creature to the top of yours — real, immediate board impact for six mana. The cost is real, but the effect is permanent and unconditional, and Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire decks treat it as a two-for-one engine piece rather than a top-of-curve luxury.

Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire attacks and forces opponents to sacrifice permanents, replacing them with whatever's on top of their library — so Brutalizer Exarch's ability to lock a noncreature permanent on top of an opponent's deck turns the next Vaevictis trigger into a guaranteed land-for-nothing swap.

Format Analysis

Brutalizer Exarch is a Commander card through and through — six mana is a reasonable curve-topper in a format where games go long and a tutor stapled to a 3/3 body is worth the slot. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage it's unplayable on rate; nothing at six mana with no immediate protection survives in those formats, and cheaper tutors dominate. Oathbreaker shares enough of Commander's slower texture that the card is at least conceivable, but the lower starting life total punishes do-nothing six-drops unless the tutor line wins immediately.

Price Context

Current price

$0.16 bulk tier

At $0.16, Brutalizer Exarch is deep bulk — a pickup that costs less than a sleeve. That price reflects low casual demand rather than power level, and there's no reason to expect it to move in either direction.
