Brushfire Elemental hits the board as a landfall-fueled threat that can clock opponents fast — each land drop pumps it +2/+2 until end of turn, and it has trample to make that damage stick. The ask is just two mana, which makes it one of the most efficient landfall beaters in green-red.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Brushfire Elemental slots cleanly into any landfall deck running green and red — Omnath, Locus of Rage and Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait shells can trigger it repeatedly in a single turn and turn it into a one-shot kill with fetch lands and ramp. Competitive constructed formats like Modern and Pioneer have faster clocks and more interaction, so a two-mana 2/1 that needs land drops to threaten is generally outclassed by dedicated aggro threats. Legacy and Vintage don't give Brushfire Elemental a meaningful home either — those formats ignore it entirely. Oathbreaker is the one other format where it can shine, particularly under a landfall-focused signature spell package.

$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Brushfire Elemental is deep bulk — you can pick up a playset for less than a booster pack. Bulk rares with niche synergy applications tend to stay in this range indefinitely, so there's no meaningful upside to holding copies beyond what you plan to play.
