Briarhorn lands as a 3/3 flash body and pumps a creature by +3/+3 until end of turn — six points of power for six mana, delivered at instant speed. The evoke cost cuts that to three mana for the pump alone, which is the real reason the card sees play.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Briarhorn earns its keep: the evoke mode turns it into a cheap combat trick that can close out damage-based combo lines or push through a crucial attack, and the full body is a reasonable threat in green stompy builds. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but competes with a much deeper pool of efficient threats and pump spells, so it rarely appears. Modern is the same story — the rate doesn't clear the bar for a format with Might of Old Krosa and similar cards at a fraction of the mana. Oathbreaker is legal and mirrors the Commander logic, though the smaller game size means Briarhorn shows up only in dedicated synergy shells.

Price Context
Current price
$0.13 bulk tier
At $0.13, Briarhorn sits firmly in bulk territory and has stayed there. It's a safe pickup if you need the effect, but don't expect the price to move — supply is deep and demand is narrow.
