Briarberry Cohort is a 1/1 flying Faerie for two mana that gets +1/+1 as long as you control another Faerie — a conditional 2/2 flyer at best, but a 1/1 that does nothing special at worst. It's a tribe-dependent body that barely clears the bar even inside Faerie decks.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Briarberry Cohort only belongs in dedicated Faerie tribal builds where the +1/+1 bonus is reliably live — and even there, it's filler rather than a cornerstone. Pauper is the one format where it sees any real consideration, since the Faerie aggro archetype operates at common rarity and values every evasive body it can get. In Legacy and Vintage, Briarberry Cohort is simply outclassed — those formats have no reason to run a conditional 2/2 when far more efficient options exist. The card is legal in Oathbreaker, but the same tribal caveat applies: it needs a critical mass of Faeries around it to do anything worth the slot.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Briarberry Cohort is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a common box rather than order deliberately. It holds no meaningful monetary value and is unlikely to appreciate outside a sudden surge in competitive Faerie demand, which shows no signs of materializing.
