Brazen Collector puts a repeating loot trigger on the board the moment your discard-matters engine fires, turning every forced discard into a cantrip that keeps your hand from emptying out. Outside of Muerra, Trash Tactician and the small cluster of commanders that deliberately pitch cards for value, the payoff is too narrow to justify a roster slot.

Muerra, Trash Tactician
Muerra, Trash Tactician's ability rewards discarding repeatedly, and Brazen Collector converts each of those discards into a loot — meaning you're filtering toward your best cards while also fueling whatever payoff Muerra is building toward, all on the same trigger.

Brazen Collector is a Commander card in practice — the effect is too low-impact and too conditional to compete in Modern or Pioneer, where discard synergies operate at a faster clock and with more powerful individual pieces. In Legacy and Vintage the bar is higher still; nothing here justifies the slot. Standard currently offers it a legal home, but a three-mana 2/2 that only does something in a dedicated discard shell won't make constructed waves there either. Commander is the right format: 100-card singleton rewards narrow synergy pieces, games go long enough for the loot triggers to accumulate, and the Muerra, Trash Tactician archetype gives Brazen Collector a real home.

$0.23 bulk tier
At $0.23, Brazen Collector sits firmly in bulk territory — pick it up without a second thought if you're building the archetype. Bulk rares in narrow-synergy roles rarely appreciate, so treat it as a cheap enabler rather than a spec.
